We believe architecture should be fun in the making. With a professional and pleasant atmosphere, we accompany clients to build innovative, high-quality designs.
Based in Geneva (Switzerland), FdMP is an architectural firm that conceives projects around people, local growth, context, and storytelling. We develop buildings for institutions and distinctive industrial companies and conduct urban plans, housing, offices, and interiors. Working across diverse programmes and scales, we offer a full-rounded range of know-how and have experience managing complex projects that demand technical and operational rigour.
The architectural practice was founded in 2014 by Oscar Frisk, François de Marignac, and Christophe Pidoux and benefits from their 14-years-experience at the head of group8. They reputably developed ICRC’s Humanitarium and logistics hall, WTO’s William Rappard Centre, and Palexpo’s Congress Centre. Since 2021, Emeline Debackere-Gutierrez has also acted as a partner, and Jill Duchosal-Pichon and Maxime Lecuyer as associates.

Industries
Designing industrial buildings demands listening and understanding the client’s particular needs. The functioning and use of space require detailed scrutiny to best address logistical and technical challenges. It is significant to consider each manufacturing process and handle the flows of supplies and people. Projects should also be ready to evolve, depending on growth and changes in production.
FdMP shows how to bring qualitative architecture while producing comfortable production places like the Patek Philippe Manufacture and Grand-Puits. Buildings also acknowledge the values dear to each client and use them to fuel the design, as exemplifies the ICRC logistics hall, a project our founding partners built earlier.

Institutions & public spaces
FdMP works on the renovation and preservation of historic buildings and the design of any place where the public gathers. From cultural and administrative venues to outdoor spaces, all projects in this section have social stakes. It is essential to recognise their use and significance in the past, present, and future to build a strong connection with the city and its inhabitants.
Amongst projects representative of this division, we see the design for the renovation and transformation of the movie theatre The Plaza. Our founding partners earlier developed other good examples such as the conversions of Palexpo, WTO's Centre William Rappard and Geneva's state boardroom, and the design of ICRC's Humanitarium.

Housing
FdMP develops contextual typologies which stem from a location's characteristics. The practice thinks of different living ways that vary from an urban zone to a peri-urban or countryside one. Specific attention goes to private and intimate spaces as well as collective and public spaces. Daylight, acoustics, and the design of private outdoor spaces - balconies, terraces, loggias - are also crucial. Housing should be both functional and mindful of these moments that make daily life dear.
The practice has extensive knowledge in housing. We build individual houses like the House by the Lake and multifamily housing that favour togetherness, such as Cedar Housing. We also design new buildings that follow local urban plans, as with Big Field Housing and Coral House. Other projects include repair and rise like Housing on Top, a design for Petit-Saconnex's retirement home.

Urbanism
Challenges we approach at FdMP include city densification and the transformation of industrial zones into neighbourhoods. We develop new urban centres and design effective relationships between city and countryside. Our main goal is to foster human relations and bring connections, transitions, and porosity among the different parts of an urban plan. We also focus on the concept of short-distance cities, notably for residential areas. FdMP understands social changes in the long run and projects tomorrow's way of life. We produce designs that harmoniously balance built spots with open-air places, green or public. Processes result in rightful master plans.
Airport City shows a vast masterplan for the area of Vernier-Meyrin-Aéroport. Meanwhile, the Past Greenhouses brings a residential neighbourhood to a peri-urban area. Vuillonnex adjusts the transition between a village and agricultural land.

Offices & retail
This section focuses on tertiary activities from interiors to developing buildings. It includes retail, sales space or greeting areas, and individual offices to open spaces. The primary concern here is flexibility in laying out amenities and their different activities. Offices and retail change the fastest, and their design should show strong adaptability.
Amongst FdMP’s projects to fall into this category, we see Raiffeisen’s headquarters, the Signal, Goutte Saint-Mathieu, and our workshop in Mont-Blanc Centre. Another fitting example is the Avenue de France administrative building that our founding partners previously built.

Interiors
All our interiors show great care for materiality, whether it is for a bar-restaurant like the Café Slatkine, an office like The Workshop, or a store like the O.Zbinden boutique. We love raw materials from wood to metal and concrete and use them to create bespoke, elegant, and uncluttered atmospheres. FdMP outlines each detail as well as tailor-made objects as depicts the Cave Millenium. Results end up being luxurious while retaining a form of effortlessness.

FdMP réalisation
In 2022, FdMP architectes and Jérôme Grandchamp - EPFL SIA AGA architect – partnered to create FdMP réalisation, a structure dedicated to construction management.
FdMP réalisation oversees construction stages for projects designed by FdMP architectes, such as Prieuré Housing and Oval Housing. It also offers its services independently to other architecture firms in need of management of tenders, preparation and carrying out of construction works. The firm notably leads the construction management of the apartment block Coulouvrenière 1 and the upcoming communal building, hotel, and restaurant for the council of Bellevue.
