Coral House
Programme: Building with 58 apartments, and retail
Clients: A&A Real Estate Grand-Pré SA
Dates: 2009-2011
Status: built
Coral House is a building of 58 dwellings, plus work and retail spaces. Along with the Bambou Residence, it participates in developing an urban zone in an old industrial district.
Designed by our founding partners when at group8, the building has no balconies. It shows a glass front with large bay windows that connect living spaces with the outdoors. Orange, red and purple blinds animate the facade. Airflow units in between the bay windows bear pierced metal sheets with coral motifs. On the opposite front, the rough-coated wall shows fewer and smaller windows for the bedrooms area. The attic offers duplex apartments with a waved appearance, just as in the Bambou Residence. It displays aluminium sheeting, leaving the building's top to fade into the sky.
