Geneva State Boardroom
Programme: transformation and renovation of the State of Geneva's boardroom
Clients: Geneva State
Dates: 2009-2010
Status: built
The renovation for Geneva State Boardroom, developed by our founding partners when in group8, had a double purpose. It should improve the working conditions in a dark room and lack of views on the outside and be in line with current protocols. All additions were designed as reversible and can be removed without spoiling the existing. A lighting ceiling was suspended on the existing one to bring a homogeneous light to the space and highlight the original woodwork and wall paintings. Similarly, new objects adopt a contemporary language, which contrasts heavily with old elements. The table also adopts a current language, and its oval shape allows all state counsellors to see each other equally, reflecting the values of collective governance.
