Wood in the Mountain interprets traditional elements of the alpine chalet. This design, developed by our founding partners at the time of group8, roots in the slope. This typology makes the most of sunlight and specific views on the mountains and distant landscapes. All the chalet is in wood, a material that gives the architecture its character. Wallis's traditional roof of tilestones stands on two lateral walls thickened to withhold amenities and organise a sheltered interior. On the fronts, fine horizontal lamellas of larch are assembled on a framework with small gaps to create depth and give the ensemble a solid outlook.
